# How wall area is measured

Wall area is the building's perimeter times its wall height.

Rates calibrated October 2, 2026. Review by December 31, 2026. Updated October 2, 2026. Method propdata-estimator-v6.

## Perimeter

Perimeter comes from the building outline. It is capped at 8 times the square root of the footprint, which keeps a merged city block or a serrated outline from inflating the wall.

## Height

A measured height sets the wall height. A building with a floor count and a missing height uses 12.5 feet per floor.

## Where the area goes

Wall area multiplies the service rate and the regional factor. [How a SkyEstimate is built](https://skypsi.com/estimates/methodology/how-a-skyestimate-is-built/).
