The Difference Between a Drone and a Pressure Washer

A cleaning drone carries the spray wand up to the wall. A ground pump or pressure washer makes the pressure and sends water up the hose. The drone adds reach and the pump supplies the cleaning force. The Apellix B2 works with the standard pumps, hoses and nozzles you own, up to 195 feet high.

The pump stays on the ground. The drone carries the nozzle to the wall.

The drone carries the wand

A cleaning drone is a flying spray head. It holds the nozzle at the wall while the pilot flies from the ground. Apellix describes a tether that brings water and cleaning agents up from a ground-based pressure-wash system, so the aircraft needs no tank of its own.

ABZ builds radar into the C10 to track the distance to the facade. Apellix flight software handles positioning and standoff distance. The drone keeps the nozzle where the pilot wants it.

Evidence [2][5]

The pump makes the pressure

Pressure starts on the ground. Apellix lists the B2 at up to 4,000 PSI at the pump and up to 11 GPM. Lucid lists the Sherpa at up to 4,500 PSI and 10 GPM in high-pressure setups, and 12 GPM at 300 PSI for soft wash. ABZ lists the C10 at 225 bar, about 3,263 PSI.

A pressure washing pro knows this half of the system. Pump size, hose, nozzle and chemistry carry over from the ground to the air.

Together they add reach

A person with a wand reaches as high as a ladder or lift allows. The drone lifts the wand to the facade. The B2 works up to 195 feet. The ABZ C10 works up to 60 meters, about 197 feet, with 30 meter and 60 meter hoses.

Each tool has its jobs

Lucid splits a property by height. Ground-level flatwork goes to the pressure washing rig, and everything above the first floor goes to the drone. Pressure washing crews do their best work on concrete, sidewalks, parking structures and tight interior spaces.

An operator with both covers the whole property. The drone handles the elevations, the washer handles the ground, and one crew delivers a finished building.

Build With SkyPSI

Add the drone to the washer you run.

SkyPSI puts the B2 flight kit, training, support, and marketing guidance around the pressure washing skills you have. You build your own customers and your own business, with the drone adding reach to every job.
